New SEEKIT project to help Scottish SMEs
In April 2009, Genesis Faraday was awarded a new £750,000 Scottish Government SEEKIT grant and European Regional Development Funds to implement a three year “Animal Biosciences KT Network” project.
The project is designed to help Scottish small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) benefit from the strength of Scotland’s cutting-edge animal bioscience research.
Scotland is a global leader in animal biosciences but there are still significant opportunities to improve the conversion rate of good science into benefits for the Scottish economy. The project will improve the flow of knowledge arising from the Scottish research base into commercialised innovative products and processes in existing and new Scottish SMEs. The project will help to;
-
Deliver new and improved products, processes and services
-
Increase investment by the SMEs assisted
-
Create and safeguard employment
Ultimately this will also lead to wider improvements for the animal agriculture sector through improved efficiency, animal health and welfare and a reduced environmental footprint.
The project will expand on the expert support and collaborative R&D activity already provided by Genesis Faraday.
