Genesis Faraday Associates

Providing co-ordinated training for postgraduates in skills that industry will value is part of the Genesis Faraday remit. Postgraduate students working on Genesis Faraday supported CASE awards will automatically be expected to be Faraday Associates (FA’s). In addition, other postgraduates working on scientific projects within Genesis Faraday members and related to the Faraday remit may be recruited to participate as Faraday Associates.

Faraday Associates are appointed and supported to build a network of well-trained scientists in livestock genetics and genomics who can transfer their expertise into the animal breeding and animal health industries and who can assist these industries to apply successfully the outputs from academic research. Publications from Faraday Associates can be viewed here.  Whether Faraday Associates find their future careers in industry or academia, it is intended that they should have a good understanding of both sectors and an appreciation of the application of science to wealth creation.

Students of any nationality working within Genesis Faraday member organisations in the area of genetics and genomics as applied to animal breeding and animal health will be accepted by special appointment on completion of a short application form available on our 'Downloads' page.

Current Faraday Associates can visit our Downloads and Links sections to access information regarding training and funding opportunities.  We would particularly like to highlight the BSAS and Genetics Society's funding schemes, available under "funding" in our Links section.  Further information regarding claims towards travel to an international conference and other travel bursaries can also be found in these sections.
